Voted the Best Candy Store in Los Angeles four years in a row by Los Angeles Downtown News.
Raquel's Candy N' Confections was founded by Roberto and Raquel Luna in 1982, who were among the first pioneers of the Hispanic Product Industry in the United States. “Our parents imported products like Jarritos and Lucas when no one knew what they were. My father would fill up his van in Mexico and drive it around California while my mother and he sold the products. Then once he finished that load he would return to Mexico and load up again." We’ve sure come a long way since those days!” says co-owner and CFO Christopher Luna. With the help of their children, straight out of high school they began to help. The oldest Meybol was the company controller. Olivia handled National Chain Sales, Anita managed the store front in Downtown Los Angeles and over the years the van became a truck, then became a fleet of Semi's distributing throughout the United States. Upon their retirement, the business was taken over by sons Robert, Benjamin and Christopher Luna. Inheriting the store from their parents, The Luna Brothers have created a thriving business uniquely based on tradition and innovation.
Offering in both retail and wholesale pricing Raquel's in the Pinata District has a diverse assortment of candies, both classic and Mexican, Raquel’s is especially renowned for its Piñatas for events such as birthdays, baby showers, weddings, religious festivities, and more. Having for the most part focused on the operations that have allowed the business to run smoothly on a day-to-day basis, his work behind the scenes has resulted in new and efficient methods of ordering, restocking, and selling.
Christopher Luna, CFO, earned his degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. With a background in finance, he has been responsible for creating innovative budgeting plans which have greatly contributed to Raquel’s financial success.
